There’s good news for all fans of the Bridgerton series. Netflix has confirmed that two more seasons, a fifth and a sixth, will definitely be filmed, and with this news, it was once again announced that season four will premiere sometime in 2026.
The series is an adaptation of Julia Quinn’s literary series about the eight Bridgerton siblings. Eight seasons are planned, each dedicated to a different member of the family, and the new order means that Netflix has officially confirmed six of them so far. The project is produced by Shonda Rhimes, known for hits like Anatomy of a Doctor and Scandal.
During the presentation for advertisers, Netflix also revealed exclusive footage from season four. The plot will center on Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, and his new love interest Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha. In the short teaser for the new season, Benedict meets Sophie at a masquerade ball and it’s love at first sight.
Let us remind you that the third season, shown in two parts in May and June 2024, followed the story of Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). The second season in 2022 focused on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), while the first season in 2020 followed Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page).
Besides Benedict, love stories in future seasons still await: Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Francesca (Hannah Dodd), Gregory (Will Tilston) and Hyacinth Bridgerton (Florence Hunt).
Season four also sees the return of many of the cast from previous seasons, including Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruth Gemmell, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, and Julie Andrews as the voice of the narrator, Lady Whistledown. The cast also includes new names including Isabella Wei, Michelle Mao, and Katie Leung, who play Sophie’s half-sisters and stepmother: Posy and Rosamund Li, and Lady Araminta Gun.
