NETFLIX has shared a list of a number of series that have been renewed for new seasons, and one of them is the popular thriller series The Diplomat. The series has been renewed for a sequel even before the third season, which will premiere this year, has been shown, and the news was announced by Netflix’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, during a presentation in New York.
The exact premiere date for the third season is still unknown, but it is scheduled to arrive on Netflix this fall, reports Variety. The new episodes will see Keri Russell return in the lead role, along with Rufus Sewell, Allison Janney, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh. Bradley Whitford, who joins the cast, will have a significant role in the upcoming season.
What can viewers expect in the third season?
The third season brings new political upheavals. Kate Wyler (Russell), the American ambassador to the United Kingdom who has so far struggled with a role she did not ask for, now finds herself in even greater chaos.
After she accuses Vice President Grace Penn (Janney) of being involved in a terrorist plot and discovers that she is targeting her office, the situation becomes even more complicated, the President is dead, and her husband Hal (Sewell) may be responsible for his death. Meanwhile, Grace Penn becomes the leader of the free world, and Hal continues to relentlessly push Kate towards the vice presidency.
